Richmond Friends of the Homeless is a private, non-profit association devoted to making a difference in the lives of the less advantaged. It began over 20 years ago with one woman, Shawnee Hansen, serving lunch in south Richmond from the trunk of her car. Today, this organization serves over 1,500 meals each week at two locations; one south of Richmond and one downtown. In addition, food baskets and donated clothes, blankets and other necessities are distributed to those in need.
Help Friends of the Homeless on Thursday, August 22
Help package lunches with Friends of the Homeless this Thursday, 9:00-11:00 am, in the fellowship hall. Ten volunteers are needed to help package 175 fried chicken meals for distribution at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Please sign up on the board in the welcome center or contact Mary Jane Walls.
Donate Plastic Containers to Friends of the Homeless
Bring in new or gently-used plastic containers, so that meal attendees can take extra food to eat later. Containers may be donated in the bin near the elevator on the red carpet hallway.
