2019 Music Ministry Events
This year’s Mission Benefit Concert will feature the Mass in G by Franz Schubert, Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and a hidden gem from the Baroque era for double choir entitled Domine ad adiuvandum me festina by Antonio Vivaldi. In addition to our Chancel Choir, Reveille Ringers, and guest instrumentalists from the Richmond Symphony, there will be a handful of featured performers for the three choral pieces. Tom Bailey will play organ (Schubert) and harpsichord (Vivaldi), and Matt Nagi will play piano (Vaughan Williams). Margaret Taylor Woods, a rising star in the Richmond music scene, will be our guest soprano soloist for both the Schubert and Vivaldi. Craig Smith will be our baritone soloist on the Vaughan Williams. Robert Phanord II and Reggie Potts IV will be the bass and tenor soloists, respectively, on the Schubert. This remarkable group of performers will make for quite a musical experience. The beneficiary for this year’s concert is Friends of the Homeless.
June 5 | The Bells of Christ Church
Come and hear and experience the rich history and beauty of handbells. One of America’s premier youth handbell choirs, The Bells of Christ Church, hails from historic Christ Church Anglican (1733) in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia. The choir will be performing their summer tour concert at Reveille UMC at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5. Ringing on 15 octaves of handbells and chimes, the group has performed in Washington D.C., Colonial Williamsburg, by invitation at the international music festival Spoleto in Charleston and throughout the eastern and southern United States. The auditioned 12-member bell choir, now in its 20th year, is made up of college and high school students. Their concert includes some of the finest bell repertoire in the genre and includes a history of bells and handbells. This concert is open to everyone.
